Meditation – a taboo?

What you are going to read will trigger your brain maybe to not believe or God knows what other feelings. Please stay open and read the post until the end!

We heard so many times in the past years about meditation and personally I know friends or relatives that judge the process without even trying it. Maybe because they think meditation it is a taboo?!

And I can put myself in their shoes because I have been there, but after 15 years of insomnia and feeling how my brain will deteriorate and couldn’t focus and be productive anymore, 2 years ago I have given it a shot. I couldn’t lose anything; I was just thinking if doesn’t work at least will be something I will learn from.

At the beginning you might feel awkward but stick with it for few days and you will feel the benefits, I promise you!

Next I will give you two definitions, one from a meditation app website, the other one summarise what taboo means and it is from Wikipedia.

What is meditation?

Meditation it is not about changing yourself, it isn’t about becoming another person, it isn’t about becoming, maybe, a better person.

As ‘headspace.com’ says, ‘it’s about training in awareness and getting a healthy sense of perspective. You’re not trying to turn off your thoughts or feelings. You’re learning to observe them without judgement. And eventually, you may start to better understand them as well.

I couldn’t say it better.

What taboo means?

Acording to Wikipedia, ‘A taboo is an implicit prohibition on something based on a cultural sense that it is excessively repulsive or, perhaps, too sacred for ordinary people. Such prohibitions are present in virtually all societies.

You can draw your own conclusions if you try it and see if it for you or not. 🙂

Exercising through meditation I could have a vision a few months ago. It was a very strange moment; I have seen my husband playing with a child at the edge of the pool of my dream house. How do I know it wasn’t a dream? Because I was lucid. I was awake, in a lotus position and was as strange as it sounds, something amazing!

So, what can you use to meditate?

Well, I have used headspace or Petit BamBou, but are also a lot of meditations over the YouTube, for free as well.

Take 5 minutes to 10 minutes if you don’t have more and meditate before sleeping or first thing in the morning. Just stay awake to not fall sleep back in the morning, ha-ha!

All I want for you it is to try. For me pills, tea and any other things I have tried to stop my brain from overthinking didn’t work. Meditation was the key.

Please feel free to share with me if you tried or you do meditation – how did you start and how did it feel?

Until next time,

Love and light, hug you tight,

@lexibeqiri.
